Penn 14.jpg

The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania acquired ten of my paintings. They are installed in the Colonial Penn Center throughout a four story stairway at each landing. Multiple paintings can be seen within the same sight line. The arrangements relate and they change as the viewer climbs the stairs. The Colonial Penn Center is located at 3641 Locust Walk, and is open to the public Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. The acquired pieces are from the (O) Poetry Paintings and The Welcome Paintings, created 2016-2018.

(O) Poetry Paintings

(O) Poetry Paintings are inspired by poetry and the visual logic of language. Minimal in structure, each painting is composed of a sweeping gesture of the three primary colors with three O’s forming a triangle painted on the surface. Able to be read as both abstract shapes and symbols, the mind seeks to make sense of the letters. Simple in form and pleasant in appearance, the paintings offer a playful examination of how language works and how meaning is made.
